Fundamental and applied physics had noticeable development in Bulgaria in the midle of 20 century. Physicists contributed in this process with considerable siccess.
Ljuben Kirilov Mladjov took part in semiconductors and infra-red optical technology. He was born in Dupnitsa (14 May 1929) and graduated there in 1947. He studied physics in the Sofia University (1947 – 1955) and the College of technology at the “ORT” Foundation (1948 – 1950). He attended nuclear physics course of Leon Mitrany (1952 – 1954) “Industrial application of radioactive isotopes“. In the next two years (1955 – 1957), he was constructor in the Ålectric Appliances Plant "Voroshilov" in Sofia.
L. Mladjov worked in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – Institute of Physics (1959 – 1966; 1969 – 1972), Institute of Solid State Physics ( 1973 – 1978 ) and Central Laboratory for Solar Energy and new energy sources (1978 – 1990). He specialised in the Technical institute in Berlin, East Germany (1967 – 1968).
L. Mladjov published more then 40 scientific papers. He has 3 patents.
