Veselin Tasev Kovachev

Born: in Kunino Vilage, Vratsa District.

Education:

    He gradueted from the Technological Institute of Saint Petersburg (1952)

    Became Ph.D. (1970) and Sc.D. (1986)

Research:

    Low temperature physics is the area of his research. He investigated superconductivity problems and materials in the Institute of Solid State Physics

    He was guest researcher in Japan and USA - Brookhaven National Laboratory (1984 – 1990) and Texas Superconducting Super Collider (1990 - 1996).

    In Japan, Veselin Kovachev was a guest professor in the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics and in the National Institute for Fusion Science.

Professional experience:

    Elected for Associate Professor (1977)

    He was deputy director of the Institute of Solid State Physics (1978 – 1988)

    Veselin Kovachev was creator and head of the Laboratory for supperconductivity and super conducting materials in the Institute of Solid State Physics - BAS (1988 - 2003)

    He was member of the Scientific Councel in the Institute of Solid State Physics and its deputy head 3 terms; and in the International Laboratory of High Magnetic Fields and Low Temperature in Wroclaw, Poland.

He was co-autor of 5 books, and wrote 150 scientific paper and 9 patents
