Georgi Ivanoff was born in Veliko Turnovo, old Bulgarian capital city, on January 15, 1884 (old style).

    He studied primary and secondary schools with father's expenses. Kiril Seizov (assistant in physics later) was his schoolmate at the real section of male secondary school in the native town. Because of father's death, Georgi Ivanoff enrolled in High school in Sofia at his own charge. "Mathematics and physics" was speciality he studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. He was a book-keeper in the Sofia Municipality at the last year of his study.

    Georgi Ivanoff finished Sofia University, and he passed state examination in mathematics in October 1906. He was a teacher in physics and mathematics at the secondary school in Turnovo in the next years.

    After the marriage he accepted family name Maneff officially.

    Ministry of National Education gave him a government grant to specialization in theoretical physics. Georgi Ivanoff Maneff specialized in France from August 11, 1912 to October 13, 1912 and from September 31, 1913 to September 1, 1914. H. Bouasse was his director of studies in Toulouse.

    As officer he was in army in the field of Balkan and First World Wars. His valour was decorated with military medals. He widowed in 1916 and the second time married he was after the end of War.

    In the next twenty-five years he worked at Sofia University. Professor Alexander Christoff, director of the Institute of Physics, offered him to assistant position and Faculty Council voted Georgi Iv. Maneff to assistant in physics.

    Assistant Georgi Iv. Maneff assumed physical laboratory in September 1, 1919. One year later he took part in competition to lecturer in mathematical physics. King's decree nominated him to associate professor at the chair of mathematical physicsin in April 21, 1921. He signed vow's sheet in February 2, 1922.

    The Faculty Council promoted him to extraordinary professor in theoretical physics and G. Iv. Maneff was nominated in April 27, 1925.

    Sofia University organized some abortive professorship competitions to the chair in theoretical physics in the next years.

    Georgi Iv. Maneff was elected to professor and he held the first professorship in theoretical physics in Bulgaria.

    Professor Georgi Iv. Maneff was Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics (1926-1927 and 1930-1931), Rector of the Sofia University (1936-1937) and Minister of Education (January 24, 1938 - November 14, 1938). He was awarded with medals "Civil Merit Degree Second" and "Saint Alexander Degree Four".

    Professor G. Maneff lived with his wife Blaga, daughter Stefanka and son Angel in own house at Karnegy Street in Sofia.

    The career of sixty years old Professor Georgi Maneff as research, professorial and statesman was successful before November 28, 1944. He died in July 15, 1965.
