Biography
Vladimir Shkodrov
10.02.1930 – 2010


Born: in Lom.

Education:

    He graduated from the University of Mining and Geology in Sofia.

    He defended two dissertation in the Institute of theoretical astronomy in St. Petersburg and Moscow universities.

Research:

    He found out new 100 minor planets.

    He studied close binary system and minor planets in the Solar system.

    In the area of history of sciences Vladimir Shkodrov explored the ideas of Aristotle from the Byzantine Empire through Bulgaria to West Europe.

Teaching experience:

    He tutored 17 students.

Professional experience:

    In the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences he was director of the Institute of astronomy, rector of the PhD Education Department and Board member.

    Vladimir Shkodrov was a rector of the University of Shumen and member of the 37 Bulgarian Parlament.

Awards:

    He was member of the International Astronomical Union and the Planetary Society.

    He was awarded with medals "Stara Planina" First degree and "Marin Drinov".

    He was honored member of the town Shumen and Doctor Honosic Causa of the University of Shumen.

Publication:

He published 3 monographs and more than 200 articles.
