Education E. Skordeva studied physics in the Faculty of Physics, Sofia University, in 1960-63. She continued her education in the Electro-Physical Department of the Electro-Technical Institute in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). She graduated from the Institute in 1967 as engineer-physicist, specialist in technology of dielectrics and semiconductors. In 1975 she
obtained her PhD degree on "Investigation on the
Influence of Elements from I and IV Group on the
Conductivity of the Vitreous As2S3"
from the Physico-Technical Institute of the Russian
Academy of Sciences. Foreign languages |

Experience and scientific interest
The main experience of E. Skordeva is in investigation of the electrical properties of wide band-gap semiconductors as well as of the optical properties of amorphous materials. She has great experience in vacuum techniques for preparation of semiconductor thin films. Subjects of her interest are the short- and medium-range structure peculiarities of the chalcogenide films and glasses and, also, the possibilities to induce various photostructural changes in amorphous chalcogenides and the related study of the changes in their photoelectrical, optical, physico-chemical properties.
E. Skordeva is author and co-author of over 90 original papers, published in materials of International Conferences and in International Journals such as J. Non-Crystalline Solids, Phys.Status Solidi (a), Phil. Mag. B, J. Appl. Phys., Solid State Commun., Physica B etc. More than 200 citations have been noticed over these publications.
Some of the publications (from the last 6 years) with authorship and co-authorship of E. Skordeva are listed in the part "References" of the Laboratory site.
E. Skordeva has been supervisor of undergraduated students. She was a member of the Committees of two International Conferences "Amorphous Semiconductors" held in Bulgaria. She is in the referee list of some scientific journals.
Co-operative studies have been carried out under the leadership of E. Skordeva with
various Institutes and Universities from
Romania, Ukraina, Russia, France. The co-operative studies have been perfomed in the frames in bilateral contracts,
as well as during the NATO Fellowship Grant (2002)
and a NATO CLG Grant (2004-2005).
